When Should I Replace My Heater?

Furnaces aren't meant to last forever. Furnaces will typically last any where from 15 to 20 years. Make sure you check the serial number on the furnace if you are purchasing a home to see when it was installed. This will give you a better idea of when you may need to replace your furnace in the future. Below we have 3 signs on when to know that it is time to replace your heater.

  • Energy Bill Is Going Up -
If you noticed your energy bill going up month over month and it's more than what you have been paying in the previous years, it's possible that your furnace. Depending on what the problem is with the furnace, a repair may increase an efficiency boost, but the increase in operating costs may be a good enough reason to replace the furnace itself.
  • Cycling On & Off Frequently -
Your furnace is supposed to cycle on when the temperature on your thermostat gets below what you have it set to. But, when a furnace is cycling on and off more then normal, this is called, "short-cycling". If you notice your furnace doing this, give our expert team of heating technicians a call.
  • Abnormally Dusty -
Not matter how much you seem to keep your home or office clean, there is always dust that you can never seem to get rid of. It could be your furnace isn't doing the job it's supposed to at removing those airborne particles. Make sure to check your furnace air filter to see if it's dirty. If it is dirty, it may just need to be replaced. But, if the dust still continues, you may need to contact us for professional help.

Commercial Heat Pump Services

Heat pumps work pretty much exactly like the reverse of an air conditioner. In fact, they can be switched between heating and cooling modes and use the same coils and refrigerant for each process. During winter, the outdoor coil absorbs heat, which is then transferred to the indoor condensing coil and released into the building.

Heat pumps come with several advantages including:

  • Single-zone or multi-zone heating
  • Less drying than traditional furnaces
  • Deliver more heat than is consumed in energy usage
  • Lower operation cost than other systems

Del-Air Mechanical offers a wide range of commercial heat pump services in Knoxville, including installation, repairs, and maintenance. Contact us today to request a complimentary estimate.

Energy-Efficient Furnaces

Though heat pumps tend to be the most energy-efficient option, new furnaces are more efficient than old models. The best furnaces on the market today have 90% or more AFUE—meaning more than 90 percent of the energy from the burnt fuel is turned into heat without energy loss.

Professional Boiler Maintenance

While we recommend heat pumps or efficient furnaces for new installs, we can also maintain your existing boiler system. Boilers require regular inspections and professional maintenance for safety; our technicians can check for rust and corrosion, test the function of safety mechanisms, and more.
